Any coolplaces that are just under the radar??

Kates Joint, Counter, Westville East, 7A, Sidewalk, Gnocco, Lil Frankies and Frank, Life Cafe.  I live in the East Village and these are our regular haunts, we also like to try new places but these we go back to.  Some are vegetarian places and others have a good selection of things a veggie person can enjoy.

I was in New York in September and I tried Harrold's place (Top Chef Season 1 winner) in Greenwich Village, Perilla's and it was fantastic.  Small, quaint, and fantastic food and wine.  Great for couples.  It will be my regular stop now when I go up for Broadway weekends.
