I'm looking for some new breakfast smoothie recipes that are quick and easy. I'd like to add a little variety to what I make each day. Any suggestions?
Hi - do you have any preferences? Mine are usually created so that I can get an extra servings of greens in my diet (green smoothies). I use 1 C baby spinach or baby bok choi, 1 C frozen blueberries (or mix cherries/blues), 1/2 C frozen papaya/pinapple and 1/2 C milk (I use hemp, since I have a dairy allergy) plus your preferred sweetener (agave, dates, or banana). Adding flax seeds will give you more health benefits. The blueberries turn the smoothie purple. Yum.
I also have a recipe for an avocado smoothie if you're not freaked out by the green. Also very yummy.
Thanks for the recipe! I'll try adding some greens (never thought to do that). Do the flax seeds blend in well with the smoothie? I'm all about making the smoothies healthy. I'm not much of a sit-down breakfast person ~ I like to eat and run! Definitely send along the avocado recipe. Thanks!
You should grind your flax seeds into a powder before adding. I grind mine in my blentec (high powered blender) but used to make a batch in my food processor and store in the freezer, then add 1 T to my smoothies or oatmeal.
That recipe I gave you is the pared down version of my healthy smoothie. My usual version has all kinds of stuff added to it (flax seeds, chia seeds bee balm, pomegranate concentrate) - whatever I'm feeling at the moment.
Hi, here is my avocado recipe:
1/4 fresh avocado
1 small banana
1 handful of lettuce, baby spinach or kale
1/2 -1 C hemp milk (or preferred milk)
1 T flax meal
1/2 T chia seeds (optional)
1 T maple syrup (or agave or pitted dates - I like a mix of syrup & agave)
Mix everything in the blender, taste and add more sweetener if desired.
If you are not freezing it then you will need to pre-freeze your bananas or add ice cubes to the blender. I like my smoothies real cold!
Oh! and tons of fresh grated ginger is good in every smoothie!
MY TIP: I love adding soy powder to my smoothies for the protein, cuz the rocky balboa raw egg smoothy doesnt work for me.lol.
my fave is with frozen strawberries, blueberries, balckberries...as im sure everyone elses is. it's easy becausei just buy the frozen bags from costco and ure ready to go. also,u can always add low fat vanilla icecream for a treat.
I love fresh juice even more. my fave juice is carrot juice, but u can add celery, and apples to make more delish. ive even added radishes, and a bunch of other stuff, but beware, some takes getting used to.
