Baby Shower Cupcake Ideas?
I have been asked to make cupcakes for a baby shower in March.  The mother-to-be wants them to be blue since she's having a boy.  Anyone have any ideas on flavors for a blue cupcake?  I found a few recipes for blueberry cupcakes, but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas to make them look less like blueberry muffins and/or mold-covered cupcakes.  Thanks!

you can try crushed blueberries mix in the icing for frosting the cupcakes or find nicer cupcake papers in blue. Little Bitts shop in Silver Spring MD has enormous variety of cupcake papers and all kind of baking needs. Little BITS shop 301-933-2733
u could always buy colorful decorative wrappers. also, u can decorate with fondant shapes, eg, bottles, bibs, shoes, baby faces...etc...just some thought.

honestly the best inspiration i can think of is just searching for baby shower cupcakes on flickr. so many amazing people on tehre, its very inspiring. one of my faves is cupcakeenvy
Thanks you guys!  I'll look into that

I agree with everyone on here.  You don't have to flavor them with something that is blue  - you could just die the frosting, or use white frosting and dust it with blue colored sugar.

Another idea - see how they are decorating their nursery.  You may be able to incorporate that into the decorations of the cupcakes.
I agree with the previous posts, regardless of the flavor, just make blue icing, or have some kind of blue/baby boy themed topper and you should be good. I personally am not huge on icing, so for one of my baby showers I did mini lemon cupcakes with blueberries and whipped cream topping, and I stuck a blueberry on top of them. They were cute and yummy, though not necessarily blue colored. Since the mom-to-be wants blue, maybe go with blue icing and blue sugar crystals?

There's also a fantastic cupcake blog: http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com/ maybe you can find ideas there, good luck!!
