More thoughtful than plunking down a credit card - Valentine's Day at Home

Hi All,
Wanted to start a thread to see what everyone who decided to cook for their significant other at home did. I'm of the belief that New Year's and Valentine's day are maybe the two worst days to dine out as you are confined to a prix fix menu and usually an overpriced one at that. At any rate, below are some pics of what I did for my wife, who is a ravenous carnivore.

Prime Ribeye steak from a local Butcher shop. I'm a sucker for the smaller end cuts that are well marbled.

I don't think you could call this a 5 star composed plate but definitely for a big steak it isn't bad. I'm not a fan of doing a bunch of sauce on a prime steak but a little caramelized mushroom in a small amount of red wine reduction never hurts. I shaved cucumber that I cured a little bit, some yellow zucchini and carrot that I blanched and put into a cup mold, made some wilted spinach with cream and Asiago, then stuffed in the mold. Covered the bottom with end pieces of the shavings to seal off. Then finally some roasted baby potatoes. I need to work on the flavoring for the veg a little bit but for a first time, the wife really liked it and was surprised to see the spinach – which she loves - when she dug in. Served with a Cote de Rotie region Syrah. All in all, a great dinner that was cheaper than a restaurant and a bit more thoughtful in my opinion.

Let's see what you guys have done. I'm sure there are some homeruns out there. Anyone know how to post pics so they show up in thread instead of putting in link???
