As chefs, we're constantly thinking about how we can use ingredients in new and interesting ways, how to shed light on misunderstood ingredients, and mostly, how to thrill and inspire people with delicious food. So when we get inspired by other chefs, it's exciting.
Jamie Oliver has been on a mission to get kids and families to understand food and nutrition for years, and while most of his efforts have been enjoyed in the UK, he's now in the States with a new show called Food Revolution on ABC. The show focuses on trying to revolutionize what and how kids eat in schools--out with fatty, starchy meals and in with fresh, healthy greens and proteins. As fathers, we can appreciate wanting our kids to grow up with healthy options at school--we form our eating habits early, so the sooner the better.
We applaud Jamie for his efforts in making our country a smarter and safer place to eat! The show airs on Fridays, so be sure to tune in tonight or set your DVR's.
Our elementary school, located in Frederick, starting planning our vegetable garden prior to hearing about Jaime's Food Revolution. Since learning about it, watching his TED speech and watching the show, we are more energized, passionate and determined then ever. Thank you for promoting this Revolution. Every child in America should have a right to healthy food. 40% of our school's poplulation receives free or reduced lunch. For some of them that meal is the main meal of their day. We are very lucky to have dedicated parents, teachers and staff that want to make sure our students have access to healthy food. Of course we invite the Voltaggio's to join us in our goals, our passion and ultimately our success, in teaching children about healthy food. I urge all of your followers to help students grow a vegetable garden at your local school or at the least donate excess food that you grow to a school, even if it's just enough for student to have a taste.
It's about time people look at what they put in their plates and thus in their body! Food is life and health so quality, content, and methods of cooking are very important. It's great that people get so interested in the food making nowadays (thanks to TV show like Top Chef and to chef like you V brothers and to chefs like Jamie).Hope it gets into everyday life of as many as possible.
I would like to see all the chefs in the USA join together and setup a 'Teach Schools How To Cook' where each chef helps to plan a local school's menu for the year and teaches kids about food.
The work Jamie is doing is beyond difficult, way beyond imperative, and I am very grateful he has dared to tackle it. Congratulations, Jamie. I know you have put your heart and soul in this.
Jamie can be said as one of the revolutionizer.. he care about the future of young generation of America although he isn't American... hope all the chef in the world will be inspired and be the agent of change to make a better future for our children salute for Jamie..
Hunh...thought I had already posted on this. Anyway, can't say I'm a big fan of Jamie's cooking, however, he should be lauded for his efforts in educating people about nutrition.
